Rev Malaika

My History

A Journey Rooted in Faith, Diversity, and the Power of Connection.

EARLY YEARS

Rev Malaika’s story begins in the North-West of England, surrounded by the warmth of her late Guyanese grandmother, whose love and wisdom shaped her early years. With African roots and Caribbean heritage, her upbringing blended Christian faith, Rastafarianism, and spirituality, offering her a rich cultural foundation. Growing up on a white working-class estate, she faced challenges of racial stigma, which inspired her to seek kindness and connection. From a young age, her heart was drawn to understanding and embracing people from all walks of life, sowing the seeds of her inclusive and welcoming nature.

SPIRITUAL AWAKENING

As a young girl, Rev Malaika dreamed of a world filled with kindness and compassion. This dream led her to form a “rainbow of friends,” spanning a variety of faiths and cultures—Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Rastafarian, and Christian. These connections taught her the beauty of diversity and strengthened her passion for inclusiveness. Her experiences inspired a lifelong commitment to peaceful activism and community building, always guided by love and a desire to bring people together in meaningful and supportive ways.

BECOMING AN INTERFAITH MINISTER

Becoming an Interfaith Minister was a natural step for Rev Malaika. Her training encouraged her to ask profound questions—Who am I? Who or what is God? How can I use my gifts to serve the world?—and provided her with tools to create heartfelt ceremonies and offer compassionate spiritual support. She learned to honour all faiths while embracing her own unique spiritual path. Since her ordination in 2012, Rev Malaika has lovingly supported countless individuals and families, creating bespoke ceremonies and spaces that celebrate life’s most precious moments with warmth and understanding.

LEGACY OF LOVE

Rev Malaika is driven by a simple yet powerful mission: to share love, light, and peace with everyone she meets. Whether officiating ceremonies, leading workshops, or offering a comforting prayer, her approachable and heartfelt presence inspires others to embrace their own paths. She is passionate about building bridges across faiths and cultures, creating a world where everyone feels seen, valued, and connected. Rev Malaika’s work is a testament to her belief that small acts of love can spark big changes, leaving a legacy of kindness and inclusivity for generations to come.

PRAYER WARRIOR

“I created a personal prayer practice for myself, which enables me to pray daily, whether I am walking, journaling, lighting a candle, sat in a reception area, stood in a steam room, or giving myself self-reiki, I am able to prayer creatively and deeply for myself, my friends and family members along with communities nearby and globally. Every night before I go to sleep, I light a candle and I send healing to those in the world who need it most…”
